Everyone wanted to know who will play the titular role of Wonder Woman and how they will pull off her story on the big screen.
And finally, just this June, Wonder Woman has been officially released. In just a day, the movie already garnered US$ 18 million – that’s how huge this movie is! Today, we want to share with some of the most amazing facts about Wonder Woman. Excited? Then let’s get started:
Wonder Woman’s Creator Also Invented the Lie Detector Test
Wonder Woman was created in 1941 by American writer and psychologist William Moulton Marston, who also invented the lie detector test. In the earlier stories of Wonder Woman, the lie detector tests were also featured. If you have noticed, the Lasso of Truth is kind of similar to the lie detector test.
Men Are Not Allowed to Enter the Island Where Wonder Woman and Her Family Lives
Originally, Wonder Woman’s homeland was first named Paradise Island. It was later changed to Themyscira. Queen Hippolyta—Diana’s mother—brought the Amazons to the island after Hercules stole the magic girdle of the queen. Aphrodite also told Hippolyta that all of the Amazons will be safe as long as they wore the bracelets and don’t talk to men.
Wonder Woman and Superman Have a History
In the movie, Wonder Woman’s relationship with Steve Trevor – an army who crashes in Themyscira and influenced Wonder Woman to go out to the world – was highlighted. We can really say that both of them have a great chemistry together, however, in a 2012 Justice League issue, it seems like Wonder Woman has already moved on from her perennial love interest because she and Superman took things to the next level.
Wonder Woman Holds a Lot of Powers That You Probably Never Heard
Most heroes have their signature powers. Ant-Man has the ability to alter his size at will and the Flash is known for his speed. Wonder Woman, on the other hand, has a lot of superpowers that even some avid fans have lost track of her entire repertoire of superhuman abilities. Among the superpowers that she has that not all people know are her mental control of electricity on her body, her ability to speak every language, and her telepathic skill. She can even talk to animals and beasts.
Being the goddess of War, Wonder Woman can also communicate to every soldier in the world.

Wonder Woman Lost Her Super Strength for a Few Years
Wonder Woman had experienced living a normal life for a brief moment. She totally surrendered her super strengths in the 1960s and stayed on Earth to look after Steve Trevor instead of joining her Amazon family to search for another dimension to live. Adopting the name of Diana Prince, she opened a clothing boutique in New York and learned martial arts.
Adaptation of the Film Has Been Going On Since 1996
It absolutely took more than twenty years to finally create a live action movie for Wonder Woman. Developments for the theatrical release has been going on since 1996 but after several revisions on the story, the cast, and the producer, the project kept getting shelved. In 2015, Patty Jenkins was announced to have accepted the offer to direct the Wonder Woman film.
Jenkins became the first woman directing a superhero film with a woman protagonist.
