The Best Restaurants for Date Night

When choosing the best restaurant for a date with your significant other, there are a lot of factors to consider. The price of the food, how good the food tastes, the quality of service, the ambiance, and even something as seemingly trivial as parking availability, are only some of the things a lot of couples consider before heading out for dinner. Fortunately for us here in the city of Cagayan de Oro, we have a lot of choices available to us when we think of where to go for date night.

The city has seen a lot of food joints pop up. As a result, all we have to do is just go to one of the malls located all around CDO. Because of this, it is also really difficult to say which one is the best when we have a lot of things to consider. Here is a list of just some of the best restaurants in the city for a date:

Circa 1850

Located at the ground floor of Red Planet Hotel along Claro M Recto Avenue is Circa Eatery. The restaurant serves American and Eurasian Fusion dishes and has both vegan and gluten-free options.  The sister restaurant of Sentro 1850, Circa is also a homegrown restaurant, and is said to serve one of the best beef brisket and pasta in the city.  This particular restaurant is lauded not only for their excellent food, but also for their particularly knowledgeable and customer-friendly service crew. The ambiance of the place gives the diners a calm and comfortable eating experience, and despite its rather lofty price range, many will say it is definitely worth it.

Melquiades Kitchen

In a little out-of-the-way spot tucked in one of the seemingly maze-like streets of Barangay Nazareth lies Melquiades Kitchen. This selection is a combination of a homey family diner and an elegant restaurant. Their menu is composed of mostly typical Filipino fare. However, they also serve several dishes that have its roots in Eurasian cuisine. They are also well-known by the locals as a great place to get takeouts. Though not as well known as the other restaurants on this list, it compensates by having very affordable prices that belie the quality of its food.

Minindal Cuisine

Near St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral is a restaurant that despite its small size, has garnered quite a reputation in the city. Despite their very name meaning “snack” in old Tagalog, they are known to have a menu that boasts of very flavorful and fulfilling food for a hearty meal such as their caldereta, longganisa and their famous kare-kare. Though they are well known mostly for their extensive Filipino menu, they also serve some non-Filipino fare like chicken cordon bleu and baby back ribs. Because of their delicious food and moderate prices, the establishment is a good choice even for university students who are spending special time with their loved ones.

Magill’s Bistro

The uptown area of Cagayan de Oro is where this restaurant is located. With its Italian-themed cuisine, this is one of—if not the most—highly recommended restaurants of all. Their food has all the preparation and techniques set by the standards of Italian cuisine and is served in a venue that is also cozy and relaxing. Many people in the area say this place is their run-to-destination when it comes to eating on-the-go as the establishment’s staff is quite efficient and wait time is typically very short. From parking to the Wi-Fi connection, Magill’s Bistro scores well across the board. With its very accommodating staff, you always feel attended to and with the quality of the food, you get more than your money’s worth. Couples out on a date will surely find this restaurant a place they would want to come back to again and again.

Vast amount of choices

One thing is for sure, here in Cagayan de Oro, there is definitely no shortage of restaurants. The ones listed are just a few examples of the more exceptional ones. So make sure to take into account a lot of factors when choosing a restaurant in order to ensure it will be a night your partner will surely remember.
